The Holy Week is a significant event in a Catholic’s life, especially a Filipino Catholic.  Holy week is the final week of the Lenten Season. This 2014, the Holy Week is celebrated from April 13 to April 19, excluding the Easter Sunday (20th of April).

Among the popular activities in the Philippines and other Christian countries during Holy Week is the Visita Iglesia, done during the Maundy Thursday.  It is customary during this day to visit 7 different churches; some visit 14 churches that symbolize the 14 Stations of the Cross. Maundy Thursday also symbolizes the re-enactment of the Last Supper scene that depicts the last day before Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross.
